Wailea Fairway Villas maintains numerous fruit trees for the benefit of owners and residents, with some restrictions. Residents may pick fruit from citrus (lime, lemon, and orange) trees as needed, but may not pick fruit from banana trees, as fruit harvesting is an important part of the maintenance of the tree and should only be performed by skilled staff. Harvested bananas are hung in the recreation area for resident use.
Some trees, such as avocado and mango, have a fairly narrow fruiting window and do not lend themselves to casual picking. These trees will be harvested when they are ready and fruit will be distributed throughout the complex.
To ensure that as many residents as possible can benefit, we ask residents to honor fruit picking etiquette:
- Please pick only from trees closest to you.
- Please pick only what you need.
- Please pick only when you need it.
Following these simple guidelines will help to ensure that all residents get to enjoy our fruiting trees.
