The Maui Department of Water Supply declared a Stage 1 water shortage, effective today. For WFV, this means landscape irrigation is allowed for no more than two days a week between 5:00 PM and 9:00 AM. The landscape will likely be stressed because of these restrictions, but we will do our best to minimize the impacts. Additional voluntary measures being requested include:

  • Avoid washing vehicles unless using a handheld container, hose with an automatic shut-off device, or at a commercial car wash.
  • Avoid watering vegetated areas in a manner that causes excessive runoff onto an adjoining sidewalk, driveway, street, or gutter.
  • Avoid watering vegetated areas within 48 hours of a measurable rainfall event.

Another notice will be posted here when the restrictions are lifted.
